Village of Plainfield, IL Offers
a New Program to its Residents
and Businesses That Helps
Save Money and Conserve Energy
Lucky you!
Why? Because the Village of Plainfield, IL has begun an energy-savings initiative that partners them with CUB Energy Saver ... our nation's first website that tracks utility company ComEd's billing savings. And who doesn't LOVE to save money??
It's FREE to sign-up! CUB Energy Saver links directly to your ComEd bill and then makes personalized money-saving suggestions that will help take a big bite out of your utility usage and ComEd bills.
Residents then begin to earn 2 "points" for every kilowatt-hour of electricity they save. Points can then be redeemed for discounts in local AND nationally-located stores. Savings on top of savings!
Here's a small example of those stores that are currently involved in this program:
If you own/run a business that is interested in participating in this growing energy savings program ... and want to reward your clients for their smart energy-savings decisions with discounts, please go to:

This new CUB Energy Saver program joins a list of
sustainability programs and initiatives offered through the Village of
Plainfield, IL. Plainfield also offers
an annual Rain Barrel sales program, as well as promoting native landscaping

The Village of
Plainfield, IL has also been named a "Tree City" through the Arbor Day Foundation ... and is continuing

Information Available at the Tips of Your Fingers. Tapping Information Available Through Chicagoland County Websites
Why and How It's Important ...
I've written more than a few times, that I have a background of over 20+ years as a licensed IL Real Estate Appraiser. Back when I started in the mortgage business, it wasn't uncommon for mortgage lenders to have dual responsibilities within their companies like this.
And of all the additional things I've studied, learned, and tackled within the framework of my years of mortgage services, I've found that my appraising education and experience has proven the most beneficial to me in conducting my services ... and my clients. It's just been immeasurable.
To say that "things have changed" somewhat over the years is an understatement. The amount of information now available to a professional Appraiser is almost mind-boggling.
One of the greatest advantages for Appraisers performing appraisals in Will County, IL can now be found through the County's Supervisor of Assessments' website. The Plats of Subdivision for the entire County of Will ... Township by Township ... Section by Section ... Acre by Acre ... Lot by Lot ... and Parcel by Parcel ... is now available just by "clicking" on the Supervisor of Assessments' site.
As a former Appraiser that had to lug and then search through huge mountainous books of information years ago, that fact alone is amazing to me. Those cumbersome books were unbelievably costly to possess too, I may add. Now? Click, click, click ... and that information is yours ... FREE. And whether a professional or a member of the general public. Rather impressive, I'd say.
The information contained within the Will County Supervisor of Assessments' website is accessed easily. The whole website is very "user-friendly". But the same can be said for the other County Departments regarding taxes, recordings, and more. I think Will County has done an exceptionally good job at making this information easily attainable for all that visit their sites. Much the same can be said for other Counties in the Chicagoland area.
Now, you must by this time be asking, "Why should I care about all of this"?
As a Realtor/Broker ... This valuable County information is available to you easily, as well. Research and verifications of tax bills, tax amounts, Assessor's records of recently transacted sales, Recorder's filings for deeds, mortgages, mortgage releases, and more ... are easily found, verified, and then utilized within your transactions. Click ... done! No more chasing down the info like in the past.
Mortgage Lenders ... must access and utilize the same information. Having it as accessible as it is now is fantastic. And that great benefit trickles down to home buying transactions too.
Within my own Mortgage Lending services, it's proven to be immensely beneficial when questions or issues regarding a potential purchased property itself has been raised ... even prior to actual mortgage application. Having the deep well of information
contained within these websites has been an unbelievably wonderful asset and
pool of information for me. It's assisted me in servicing my clients and referral partners' mortgage lending needs more quickly and thoroughly. It's saved my clients and referral partners time, money, AND frustration.
As a Resident or member of the Public ... the addition of this multitude of information to these Will County websites must not be overlooked. YOU now have simple and easy access to information that was once much harder for you to obtain. That YOUR County of Will (and others) has undertaken the task of making this information available to you, shows great commitment on their part. The task must have been staggering both in the amount of data to be entered and the time it took to complete it.
I've provided a listing below, of a few of the Illinois Counties within the Chicagoland area that are providing a wealth of real estate-related information within their County websites. Bookmark or save this blog. The information contained below is very useful and may benefit you immensely at some point in the future, whether for personal or business purposes.
As always, should you have any questions regarding the information you seek, please feel free to contact me. I'll provide whatever information or assistance that I can to help serve your needs.

Residents of Village of Mokena, IL Will Enjoy FREE Electronics Recycling Pick-up as of January 1st, 2012
A law banning the pick-up of discarded electronics by waste haulers will soon go into effect in Illinois. As of January 1st, 2012, it will be unlawful for electronic items to be picked-up during the weekly trash pickup.
Under this new 2012 Illinois law, electronic product manufacturers will have to recycle the weight equivalent of the electronics products they sold within the State of Illinois during the year 2010. After the year 2012, manufacturers will then have to recycle the weight of 50% of the products they sold within the State each 2 years prior.
The residents of the Village of Mokena, Illinois ... thanks to the progressive thinking of its leaders ... will begin enjoying the benefits of a new program designed to continue and expand electronic recycling within their Village. This new 2012 recycling program is to be entirely funded through disposal fees collected from commercial businesses within the Will County area.
To take advantage of the benefits of this new program, Mokena residents just need to call 708.479.3927 to arrange an appointment for pick-up of their electronic items. Residents will be able to arrange for a minimum of 2 items to be carried away ... and a maximum of 10 items, at one time.
Hours for the recycling drop-off container/location are: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Items accepted from residents for recycling within the Village of Mokena are:
(Broken or Obsolete)
• Adding Machines • Answering Machines • CB's/Two -way radios • Calculators • Cameras (film, magnetic tape, digital) • CD ROM/Zip/Tape Drives • CDs, DVDs, Floppies, etc • Copy/Fax/Scanner Machines • Cords & Cables (power, USB, etc.) • Digital Clocks • DVD • Electronic Mice • Hand Held Games • Hard Drives • Joysticks/Game controls • Keyboards • Laptops • Laser Disc Players • Microwaves • Modems • Monitors • Pagers • Palm Organizers • Paper shredders • Personal Computers (PCs) • Portable Radio/CD Players • Postage Machines • Printers (laser, ink jet, dot matrix, etc.) • Speakers/Stereo Systems • String Lights (holiday lights on wires) • Telephones/Cell Phones • Televisions • Typewriters/Word Processors • UPS (Battery Backups) • VCR • Video Game Players
As a safety reminder, Village of Mokena Mayor Joseph Werner asks residents to discard or clean computer hard drives thoroughly prior to leaving them for recycling. Reformatting the hard drive or rewriting the disc is greatly recommended.
Those residents seeking further information or having questions can contact either the Village of Mokena at 708.479.3927, or Vintage Tech Recyclers at 877-540-7269 or 866-631-1707 for assistance or more details.
This recycling pick-up service is for residents only. Businesses wishing to recycle electronics must contact Vintage Tech Recyclers (recycling organization providing Village of Mokena recycling services), at 877-540-7269 or 866-631-1707, for further information or to make arrangements for recycling services.
Just this year alone, between the months of January 1st and October 1st, Mokena residents recycled 143,000 pounds of electronics. With this new expanded service taking place at the beginning of the New Year 2012, the Village of Mokena (IL) and Vintage Tech Recyclers hope to expand the numbers of electronics saved from ending-up in landfills.
